Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of projects do you estimate?

We estimate millwork and casework scopes for commercial, institutional, residential, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and custom architectural woodwork projects of all sizes. This includes architectural millwork, commercial casework, institutional and educational casework, healthcare and laboratory cabinetry, custom cabinetry and built-ins, retail fixtures and displays, hospitality millwork, reception desks, feature walls, wood paneling systems, trim and decorative woodwork, multi-family residential millwork, and specialty fabrication packages.

Where do you provide services?

We provide millwork and casework estimating services throughout the United States and Canada.

What project phases do you support?

We support the full project lifecycle - from conceptual budgeting and schematic design estimating through design development pricing, construction document estimates, bid-level estimating, GMP budgeting, value engineering, change order pricing, and procurement support.

How long does it take to receive my estimate?

Most projects are delivered within 24-72 hours of receiving a complete document set. Larger or more complex scopes may require additional time - we provide a specific turnaround commitment when you submit. Rush delivery is available for an additional fee.

What file formats do you accept?

We accept PDF, DWG, DXF, RVT (Revit), and all other standard drawing file types. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll confirm compatibility before you upload.

How much do your services cost?

Our pricing is based on project scope, complexity, square footage, and service type. We provide a free quote for every project before any work begins - no commitment required. Most clients find that our fees represent a fraction of the cost of a single missed scope item, underbid project, or preventable change order.

What does "production-based estimating" mean?

It means our estimates account for how millwork is actually fabricated and installed - not just material costs. We develop detailed labor projections by function (engineering, fabrication, assembly, sanding, finishing, packing, freight, and installation), organized by department and phase. This gives manufacturers and contractors a direct line from the estimate to their shop floor and field operations.

What are AWI-based estimating standards?

AWI refers to the Architectural Woodwork Institute, the recognized industry organization that establishes quality grades, specification standards, and performance requirements for architectural woodwork. Our estimating process is aligned with AWI standards, providing a defensible and industry-recognized framework for scope definition, quality classification, and cost development.

What format are estimates delivered in?

We deliver in the format that works best for your workflow - by CSI division, by room, by elevation, by phase, with labor and material separated, in unit-priced formats, or in your company's preferred template. Just let us know your requirements when you submit.

Do you sign NDAs?

Absolutely. We treat project confidentiality with the highest priority and are happy to execute a standard non-disclosure agreement before receiving any project documents.

Can you work with incomplete drawings?

Yes. We can produce conceptual or budget estimates from schematic or design development drawings with assumptions and qualifications clearly documented. For full bid-level estimates, we recommend a complete set of construction documents and specifications.

Can you support our internal estimating team?

Yes - this is one of our most-used services. We work alongside in-house estimating teams during peak bidding periods, staffing shortages, accelerated schedules, large project pursuits, and GMP development. Our process is designed to integrate with your existing workflow with minimal disruption.

Can I use you for just one project?

Yes. There are no minimums and no long-term commitments. Many clients start with a single project and continue working with us as they see the value in what we deliver.

Do you offer rush estimates?

Yes. Rush delivery is available for time-sensitive bids. Contact us as early as possible to confirm availability and discuss your deadline.
